Troubleshooting / FAQ
My submission isn't showing up
Check, in order:
- Is the form claimed? An unclaimed form only holds up to 10 submissions before further attempts get
429 CLAIM_LIMIT_EXCEEDED- claim it to remove that cap and see everything going forward. - Is it in Spam instead of the main list? Check the Spam folder: the honeypot or CAPTCHA may have flagged it. The honeypot marks a submission as spam in two cases: its hidden spam-trap field arrived with a value in it, or the field was missing while the honeypot is on. If every submission lands there, your form is probably missing the field, or carries it under the wrong name. A new form calls it
honeypot, but a form can use another name (shown under Settings → Spam protection → Honeypot, and in the form's snippet). Check that your page's hidden field uses exactly that name, and send it empty from your code, or turn the honeypot off for that form. If you renamed the honeypot field, update the hidden field on your live page to the new name: until you do, everything from that page goes to spam. If a real field on your form has the same name as the honeypot, rename one of them: BootForm treats that name as the spam trap. See Spam protection. - Is it past your plan's full-access window? An old submission stays listed but locked - see Submission retention.
- Is the date range filter hiding it? The submissions list defaults to a rolling 30-day window - widen it or switch to "All time".
Spam is still getting through
First check that the honeypot is on (Settings → Spam protection → Honeypot) and that its hidden field is on your page. The honeypot catches bots that fill in every field and bots that post without the field at all. Some bots leave every hidden field empty, whatever it is called, so renaming the field won't stop them. For those, add Cloudflare Turnstile.
I'm not getting email/Discord/Slack/etc. notifications
- Confirm the destination is enabled (not just added) from the Workflow tab.
- For email, confirm the recipient address is verified - an unverified sender address won't deliver.
- Google Sheets/Airtable/Notion aren't real delivery types yet - see Notifications & integrations.
- Check the destination's delivery log (Workflow tab, per-destination "Delivery log" link) for the actual attempt and any error it hit.
422 CAPTCHA_FAILED
Your Turnstile site/secret key pair is misconfigured, or the submitter's token genuinely failed verification. Double check the keys under the form's Settings tab match a real Turnstile site configured for the domain the form is embedded on.
429 QUOTA_EXCEEDED / 429 RATE_LIMITED
Two different things: QUOTA_EXCEEDED means you've hit your plan's monthly submission limit (Free hard-stops; paid plans meter overage instead - see Pricing). On Free it lasts until the 1st of next month (UTC), and the account owner will have had an email at the warning threshold and another when the limit was reached (see Free quota emails). RATE_LIMITED is a short-window request-rate limit on the submission endpoint itself, unrelated to your dashboard API rate limit (see The API).
422 FORM_NOT_CLAIMED on a file upload
File uploads specifically require the form to be claimed first - a scalar-only (no files) submission to an unclaimed form works fine. See Building your form.
410 FORM_DELETED
The form this page posts to was deleted, so the submission was not received. A deleted form's ID is permanently retired: it can't be restored or claimed again, and your visitors see a "This form no longer exists" page. Create a new form and update the page to post to its ID. See Deleting a form.
403 ORIGIN_NOT_ALLOWED
The form has an allowed_origins restriction (directly, or inherited from its workspace) that doesn't include the page you're submitting from. See Forms, workspaces & routing.
Still stuck?
Every error response includes a machine-readable code alongside a human-readable error message
- see The API for the full list, or check the destination's delivery log / your browser's network tab for the exact response BootForm sent.
